Appreciative Coaching

The first question starts the change’ David Cooperrider

Our brains are wired with an inherent negativity bias, so we tend to seek to ‘fix’ things that we think are wrong. Appreciative Inquiry looks for what’s working well, and how to build on ‘the good, the true, & the possible’. So clients who work with me benefit from my evidenced based positive psychology toolkit, the latest research in neuroscience, combined with my training & countless hours of experience in helping people function at their best in work and life. So, if you are ready for a change in perspective and would like to work in a collaborative relationship that can help you flourish, then my appreciative coaching sessions are designed for you.

Clinical Supervision

Psychologists, Health Professionals, Early Years Practitioners, Social Workers

Working with me you can expect a safe & containing space within which:

  • to reflect on your client & wider issues work
  • to collaboratively create meaningful formulations and make sense of complexity
  • to develop your skills in specific aspects of your clinical work
  • to make theory to practice links
  • to extend your clinical knowledge
  • to process the emotional content of the work and be aware of your self-care needs
  • to build collaborative working relationships with your clients, colleagues and other agencies
  • to celebrate your strengths & successes
  • to explore challenges and find solutions
  • to create clear action plans

As an experienced clinical supervisor of a wide range of health, education, and social services professionals, both individual, group and team supervision, I offer clinical supervision in child and family and perinatal mental health and well being and in strengths-based approaches.

Evidence in both past and current literature clearly recognises that well supported clinicians can contribute positively to outcomes for clients.

Clinical work is emotionally challenging in dealing with competing demands, complexity of casework or, at times, working to the limits of your comfort or capabilities. These challenges and pressures can impact on your personal resilience and wellbeing.

To be able to provide compassionate, person-centred care in an increasingly complex care environment and maintain resilience, it is recognised that it is essential to take steps to ensure care for yourself. Clinical supervision is a space where you can explore the effects of your work and make sense of the feelings that working with complex issues evoke and make clear plans for action.

Learn With Me

‘It starts with you!’

Underpinning my philosophy in working with professionals, these tailored, individualised learning programmes, delivered by coaching,  are designed to take your clinical skill with clients to the next level. By experiencing the benefits of applying the skills to yourself you become a more confident and authorative practitioner.

Any of the group learning programmes can be delivered on an individualised basis, tailored to your professional needs and client group. If you’d like to develop your clinical skills, contact me to discuss.

Personal Positive Psychology Learning Programme:

An individualised learning programme in positive psychology delivered by coaching. Through experience of positive psychology science, strengths-based approach ‘toolkit’, and putting into practice, you will learn about the field and directly experience its benefits.

This is a clinical skills development learning programme in positive psychology tailored to your professional needs. We explore and apply a broad range of tools which you can then use with your clients to help them flourish.

Across 8 sessions we will cover the key areas in positive psychology including positivity, strengths, well-being, optimism, resilience, motivation, goals, relationships and life purpose and apply them to you and to the context that you work in, so that you have a relevant toolkit you will be able to put into practice as you go through the programme.

Each session is guided by whatever is current for you and we use this as a way in to learn about and apply positive psychology. 8 x 60-minute sessions at a frequency that suits you, tasks to apply between meetings, and with an optional check-in by phone/Skype/email between sessions to keep you moving forward in your strengths-based practice.

Contact me to arrange an initial discussion, find out more, and have your questions answered.
